Congressman Gephardt (D-MO) has been House Majority Leader since 1989.  Since his 1976 election, Mr. Gephardt has developed broad expertise in health care, tax fairness and trade issues.  In 1984, Gephardt was elected chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.  He ran for President in 1988, but withdrew from the race, and was subsequently re-elected to the House of Representatives.

  9. Gephardt currently serves on the Budget Committee and the Select Committee on Intelligence.
